Happy New Year! We wish everyone a prosperous new year and a smaller waste line. As that seems to be the top two on everyone’s list. As most of you know Cory was home for Xmas and we had a wonderful time. We spent the first four days in Vancouver, sans kids. Not only was it a treat to sleep in, but I also appreciated my alone time with Cory. The only Xmas shopping we did was for me! I was lucky to receive a sparkly new watch for Xmas. We stuffed ourselves full of great food and good wine and completed (painfully for me) a run around Stanley Park.
The photo above is a jade sculpture carved by Bill Reid. He was a West Coast artist who was inspired by his mothers Haida culture. In small gallery downtown Vancouver ,The Bill Reid Foundation displays many of his beautiful carvings. Cory and I have always admired his works especially this piece which Bill commissioned for the Vancouver Aquarium in bronze.
Both the kids adjusted well to Cory being home. Jack even remembered him, we were all a little dumbfounded at that. Since Cory started his training when Jack was 6 months old, he’s been away for almost a year to date. So you can imagine how happy Cory was when Jack started calling for him instead of me.
The one thing Cory didn’t expect to find this Xmas was snow. We had snow for at least a week of Cory’s visit home. When it wasn’t snow/raining we took the kids to the park. But if it was really wet they were lucky enough to occupy themselves with Grandpa’s huge tv. Dancing was usually the order of the day.
Xmas morning with little kids is a gong show. I just gave up trying to keep up with the gifts Dylan was opening even when she started to open Jacks. I had a lot of Mimosa’s that morning and the kids and everyone else had great fun. Mom and Dad are to commended on how cool, calm and collected they remaind during the holidays. They must have a secret stash of booze somewhere.

It was wonderful to hear that you had a great Christmas that you got snow….it’s just not Christmas with out snow. Looks like the kids enjoyed the festive season and the time they got a chance to spend time with Cory. Thank you guys for the wonder gifts and I really enjoyed the home made ones. Dylan, you are a very talented girl. Also I am on my third time watching the Pirate series….you know at my age it’s a new movie everytime I see it. Looking forward to talking to you soon and big hugs and kisses from Grandma and Grandpa
I’ve been checking often hoping to see pics of Cory’s visit! I’m so glad you were able to get away for some couple time but you were also able to spend quality time with the kids. How amazing that Jack remembers his Daddy after such an absence. Kids are amazing!! You all look gorgeous and happy. Happy New Year!!! It’s going to be a good one for the Kwasny’s I think:)
