Since selling our Ottawa home and buying our Victoria home I have neglected the website. Here are some photos of the things we have done in between the busyness.

We bought Dylan a new (used) bike. Jack gave her old bike a new coat of paint to make it his own.

Dylan and I are still enjoying watching the birds at our feeder.

The kids got dolled up for class pictures today. I thought I would snap a few while they were both clean. Jack will stand for photos but I really get the impression he’d rather be someplace else. Dylan on the other hand could pose for photos all day.

Looking at the kids it’s hard to believe Dylan is 3 years and 5 months older than Jack. She’s average size and he’s super sized, yet she’s the one who eats the most food. I wonder if we should start Jack in Basketball now?

Easter

The Bunny came and left lots of goodies behind.

After breakfast and lots of chocolate we went for a hike to work it all off.

Bird Watching with Dylan

Dylan has had a love of bird watching since our friend Ann gave her The Backyard Birdsong Guide. Another bird book and binoculars courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa Kwasny and Dylan is a birder. This Easter weekend the girls left the boys to work on the house and we went in search of our feathered friends.

Mom took the photos and Dylan identified the birds.

The photos below were taken along the Rideau Canal at the Arboretum.

All the photos of the Red Winged Black Birds are male, but the mature male has more red on its wing. The younger more white.

The following are not bird photos, but they make me feel like Spring is here.

More skiing and Cory’s Birthday

Cory and I now realize we are stalking our children at the ski hill during their lessons. We don’t just wait at the bottom of the run any more. We walk up it. With no ski’s on our feet or lift tickets on our jacket, we are walking up the runs to find our child’s class. And because I’m so embarrassed I make us hide in the woods, which probably adds to the creepiness factor.

Here are the photos from last weekend. Thank goodness we have a zoom lens.

Other than the birthday boy himself, the chocolate cake was the main attraction.

Sunday morning before Cory left he took the kids to a Winterlude attraction. I think it was like a kids play ground, but all built out of snow and ice. Since I was not there I can only make an assumption about the park. My assumption is this, it’s not a safe place to take your kids. Just look at the dangerous machines the kids were allowed to ride on. Don’t even get me started on the ice slides. Where is the adult supervision?????

First Skate on the Canal

We had nice skate on the canal this afternoon. It was a bit chilly, but the hot chocolate and Beaver Tails warmed us up. Although Jack can skate, he can go faster with the bar. Since we can’t convince him otherwise we just try to reduce the number of people he knocks over.

Ice Storm

Although it wasn’t a severe storm, we lost power during the night. I woke up at 5:30am wondering why I was so cold. Since Cory wasn’t there to steal my covers and my bedside clock was dark I concluded a power failure. We have a fireplace downstairs and lots of wood, which Cory lights every weekend he’s home. I knew a fire was exactly what was needed, but unfortunately I never paid attention when Cory was home lighting them.

Luckily I have a very sweet husband who doesn’t mind what time I call. Cory gave me excellent play by play instructions over the phone and minutes later a fire was roaring. The power returned a short time after.

While the kids were playing outside waiting to be taken to school I took some photos. Ice was covering everything, I’m not even going to attempt to chip it off the car until the sun has done some work. Not being a native Ontarian I still marvel at how the ice covers all of the surfaces, even the bricks on our house. It’s as though everything has been covered in a layer of icing, even the branches of the trees.

Camp Fortune Ski Lessons

The kids had their first ski lessons at Camp Fortune today. Both Jack and Dylan had a great time skiing last year and had no problems jumping back into it today. Nardine and I were impressed that Dylan headed straight for the chairlift and that Jack nailed the snowplow, something he couldn’t do last year.

Dylan’s 2011 New Years Party

While we don’t have to many holiday traditions here at the Kwasny household, we do have one very important and awesome one – Dylan’s Annual New Years Party! Some of you might remember the Hawaiian Bash of 2010 (still getting over the hangover from that one!) Well this years party lived up to the high standard of awesomeness that we’ve all come to expect from Dylan and her crew (Jack). The theme this year (drum roll please…….) – THE CIRCUS! Yes, we had clowns, games, magic acts and candy – what else could you ask for? Needless to say, if you ever get an invite to one of these amazing events, don’t even think about missing it.

Bathroom Complete and School Pics

The bathroom is finally finished!! Many thanks to everyone who helped out, couldn’t have done it without you. After giving the kid’s an inaugural bath tonight we have now put it through all it’s paces and are very happy with the outcome. Not sure you’ll notice much of a difference but here are the before and after pics.

On a completely unrelated subject, here are this year’s kids school pictures. Both Nardine and I agree that Jack’s could quite possibly be the most awesome school picture ever taken. Dylan as always looks stunning.
